Sonja

Educational Therapist

MSTC, ET

Hi! I’m Sonja.Teaching has given me the opportunity to inspire and empower young minds. After obtaining a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in French and International Public Policy, I earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University at Northridge in 2002.

For the past 16 years, I have been teaching at a private elementary school in Los Angeles. Additionally, I work as an educational therapist for preschool age children through grade 5 and continue my professional growth in the field through my membership with the Association of Educational Therapists. In my practice, I use the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach that incorporates many learning modalities.

My specialty is using a targeted, systematic approach to building strong phonological and phonics skills for young children with dyslexia and those with other learning differences and learning challenges. I also utilize intervention strategies to help those students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges.

My goal is to individualize the needs of each learner in the remediation process and to work towards the goal of building independent and successful learners.
